YOU ARE AMAZING GOD!

3.22.2005

7:41 PM

Well, I may not have gotten into the college I want to get into yet...but...

GLORY BE TO GOD!

There is no greater joy than seeing a loved one come to Christ, even better than college!

WOW!

So I've got this friend who I've known for practically my entire life. We used to hang around quite often until high school soiled our innocent, naive minds (heh). But anyways, this friend wasn't a Christian, and as a Christian challenged to save my non-believing friends, and a good friend, I prayed for him.

By the Lord's divine providence, the Lord worked in his heart, and he noticed the love of God in my heart and asked me about Christianity. So began a long period of pouring out my heart and trying to be a positive Christian. Again by God's help, not only did he continue to question me about my faith, but he began to attend a fellowship. I kept on praying for him, though that was the last I heard from him for a while, until early this week.

AGAIN, by God's perfect power, the Lord lead my friend to a smaller church where he made contact with a couple guys who sparked his interest in guitar, which I pray will grow into a service to the Lord eventually. God also allowed him to attend Wednesday night service, in which no one attended the youth prayer meeting (bad), but opened the pastor to praying and ministering to my friend one-on-one (very good!) The influences of the fellow brothers and sisters around him must've really had an impact on his heart, for tonight, he told me he is going to ask the youth pastor to lead him to Christ at tomorrow's meeting! PTL! PTL! He says once he is saved, he wants to learn all he can about what the sacrifice of our Lord means to a believer.

Please pray for my friend, that God will empower him with the Holy Spirit, that he will just drink it all in and have an unmovable, unshakable faith. Pray also that he will constantly remember to put away the old, worldly self, full of ungodly habits. I've asked him that he find an accountability partner, and I pray that through God's providence, he will find one, and as iron sharpens iron, that they both will encourage, edify, and help one another grow in the grace of God. Pray, too, for his family, as they are not saved.

"I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent." - Luke 15:7

MY NAME IS SCOTT JUNG AND I...

3.19.2005

1:19 AM

EDIT: UCSD baby, oh yeah!

So, the latest wave of college decisions seems to be subsiding for now at least, except for UCSD, which has not released their decisions to any seniors, leaving us in a state of nervous anxiety. I, for one, am not too anxious, since UCSD will not be my first choice unless I get a fat scholarship or something. The only other college that people have been hearing from is USC, which hasn't sent me anything yet (although the admissions has seemed to cross the bay finally from the peninsula and the city to san ramon and the home of our class jock and genius (said in a kind manner, kyle)

Washington U. was a big surprise...I didn't expect them to send me decision until April, let alone an acceptance sent UPS overnight! The free trip to St. Louis was the biggest surprise of the week, so I'll be visiting WashU next month just to take some time off and see the campus.

So overall in this past round of decisions, lots of seniors got in where they expected to get in, but lots of seniors got in (and didn't) get into schools they didn't expect at all. Did not God play some pivotal role in all this? For many, it makes the decision harder, but it shows His divine providence and our need to ask Him for wisdom. For His will is perfect, so He will show us the way we should go (Rom. 12:2b, Ps. 32:8) Oh yeah, my mom reminded me I should start praying for a good roomate also. bad roomate=disaster!

I sometimes purchase random items, some of which I hardly use. My latest random purchase was a 2 yd X 60 in. sheet of blue polyester. Seeing the special effects on the new ST:FC DVD sparked my interest in chroma-keying, known to the layman as blue/green screen.

I started real easy by standing in front of the screen, shining a lamp at me, and taking a picture of myself, then using Vegas (which has a very easy-to-use Chroma-key feature), and taking out the blue. It worked, but I immediately learned two things: never have anything close to blue on your person, and, illuminate the screen using a less harsh light either above, below or on the side of the screen. My result was me in front of the Great Wall, however the corners were sort've black, I had a shadow that appeared all around my figure, and my light blue sweater became sort've transparent. It's neat, but I'll keep working at it to improve it. My first project will be very straightforward: a homemade version of the Apple "Switch" commercials they used to show on TV. We'll see what happens from there!

Incredibles DVD. Finally. $14.95 @ Circuit City . YES!

GO TROJANS!

THE ROAD THUS FAR - UPDATED 3/14/05

I am now officially a UCLA reject

umm...GO TROJANS !?!?!?!?!?

It's okay, I'm not bummed about it at all, mostly because it wasn't my top choice. I couldn't picture myself living in those high-rises on the campus.

Reading my rejection letter, the class of 2005 consisted of about 42,000 applicants to UCLA, out of which only 4,300 were accepted. 4,300 - 10 PERCENT OF UCLA APPLICANTS!!! THAT'S CRAZY!

I thank God that He is continually showing me which direction to go. I'm not implying anything specific, but a rejection and a scholarship in 2 days may mean something...

SMELLS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

3.11.2005

4:28 PM

What's up with girls talking about their farting problems lately? Seems like in the last month, I've read or heard a lot of women-folk talk about how they fart a lot, or how they had to urge break wind in the library the other day, or so-and-so food gave them bad gas all day long. Even us guys don't talk about passing gas that much. I personally try to avoid the subject of my flatulence problems....(problem, did I say problem? )

Nooowwww then, getting back to other news, no further college decisions were released this past week, as expected. UCSB says they mailed mine today, so either through the net or by mail I'll find out. UCSD, UCD, and UCLA should be releasing theirs sometime this week.

I did however, receive my first scholarship! $4,000 towards my education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign School of Engineering! WOOHOO! UIUC's been doing a lot lately. Couple days ago I received an Illinois T-shirt! WOOHOO! Illinois must want me! You hear that, Tiff, ILLINOIS WANTS ME!!! haha!(EDIT: A quick note of "California pride for all you UC applicants: Funny how I received a letter from Illinois saying they're giving me $4000 the same day I received a letter from the Cal Grant program saying they're giving me SQUAT!)

Can't believe we have 2 weeks left until Easter break and 97 days left until summer break! So much to do, so little time!

MARCH 3, 2005

3.03.2005

8:24 PM

Wow, it's only the third day in March and life is getting so nerve-racking!

I read in two seniors' xangas and both got into USC and I haven't heard from USC yet! EDIT (8:23 pm): make that THREE seniors!

I'm not really nervous or anything...it's just sort've a anxious excitement thinking about...just need to stay optimistic and accept wherever God is leading me.

I am so busy tonight, but I'm on my break, so in this spirit of senior-ness and senioritis, I will post the beginnings of my first 3 acceptances...

January 4, 2005
Dear Scott:
Congratulations! Acting on behalf of the Faculty, the Admissions Committee has selected you for admission to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

March 1, 2005
Dear Scott:
Yes, you've been admitted! In recognition of your academic achievements...I am pleased to offer you admission to the University of California, Santa Cruz for fall 2005.

March 1, 2005
Dear Mr. Jung,
I am pleased to offer you admission to the University of California, Irvine as a Biomedical Engineering major in The Henry Samueli School in Engineering for fall quarter, 2005.

12 more days until round 2! It should go by quickly because I am swamped with tons of work until then! Congrats to all seniors on all their acceptances thus far!
